It was in 1990 that Sharp introduced three new PC XT type laptops that would replace the old PC-4602 and PC-4641 models. The new laptops are over 2 kilos lighter than their predecessors and sport TST LCD displays capable of displaying 25 lines of 80 characters in CGA mode at a resolution of 640×400 pixels. The V40 CPU runs at 10 MHz and the computer has 640 Kb of memory. Data storage comprises of two 1,44″ floppy drives and a 40 Mb hard disk with preinstalled MS-DOS 3.3. When it came to the market, the 4741 model cost 6000 DM.
